Seoul National University Hospital (President Young-Tae Kim) successfully held the ‘2024 BOSTON-SEOUL BIO & AI NIGHT’ at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) in Boston, USA, in collaboration with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) on the 7th (local time). At this event, Seoul National University Hospital unveiled its advanced bio research-based global data platform for the first time overseas, laying an important foundation for global cooperation and overseas expansion of the Korean bio industry.

Seoul National University Hospital(SNUH) was designated as a ‘National Strategic Technology (Advanced Bio-Digital Health Data Analysis and Utilization) Specialized Research Institute’ by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in January 2024, making it the first national strategic technology specialized research institute in Korea. This event was a place to introduce the key tasks of this specialized research institute, present SNUH’s vision of building a digital bio ecosystem and promote global cooperation.

The ‘NSTRI Data Platform’ presented by SNUH at this event provides a digital environment where researchers worldwide can collaborate to analyze and utilize data. Event participants experienced this platform firsthand and discussed various ways to use it, and researchers from MIT and Harvard also attended to share opinions from the field and explore ways to cooperate.

In the IR pitching, six healthcare startups supported by SNUH, including Connective, Jeongmed, Deepcure, Portray, and external companies Medical AI and MedySapiens, introduced their technologies and business models to local investors in Boston. After the pitching, they communicated with investors through free networking and sought opportunities for cooperation.

SNUH’s excellent patented technologies were also exhibited, introducing eight medical technologies recognized domestically and internationally. Through this, SNUH laid the foundation for expanding overseas technology transfer and commercialization opportunities and strengthening global research cooperation.

Kim Young Tae, President of SNUH evaluated, “This event was an important opportunity to publicize SNUH’s excellent global data platform and expand overseas expansion opportunities for domestic healthcare startups,” and added, “We will continue to lead the establishment of a global digital bio ecosystem and continue to create innovative results through advanced bio and AI technologies.”

Through this event, SNUH provided domestic healthcare startups with an opportunity to showcase their technological prowess in Boston and collaborate with global partners, thereby creating an important turning point for global cooperation and joint research. Through this, we plan to strengthen our role as a bridge for overseas expansion of domestic advanced bio industries and continuously expand our competitiveness in the global bio market.
