SNU Cancer Hospital Signs an MOU on Research Cooperation with the National Cancer Institute.

The SNU Cancer Hospital (Dong-Young Noh, Director) recently signed an MOU regarding research cooperation with the U.S. National Cancer Institute.

The SNU Cancer Hospital and the Office of Cancer Clinical Proteomics Research (OCCPR) under the National Cancer Institute will enter into joint development, exchange, and cooperation in cancer clinical proteomics.

The MOU includes: ▲ Creation of a new cooperative mechanism for the public goods across development and application of proteomic technologies, standards, and research design for the Clinical Lab of the SNU Hospital, ▲ Sharing of target proteins, clinical trial materials, cancer research data and findings, etc.

The OCCPR establishes and administers an integrated research foundation at the national level for advances in clinical proteomic technology and research design, data acquisition and provision, development of reagents and standard materials, and analytic understanding of cancer biology.

Under the goal of scientific cancer research and treatment of cancer patients, the SNU Cancer Hospital expects this MOU to foster mutual exchange of human resources plus clinical proteomic technology and reference materials currently developed by the National Cancer Institute. In particular, joint development of clinical proteomic technology will be widely used for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, therapy evaluation, and interpretation of test results.

“I expect this MOU can become a crucial basis for spread of up-to-date clinical proteomic technology to the SNU Hospital's  basic and clinical labs and for combination of proteomic technology and infrastructure among researchers engaging in basic and clinical researches,” told Dong-Young Noh, Director.
