Pediatric Urology

Established in 1985 as the first of its kind in Korea, the Department of Pediatric Urology at Seoul National University Children's Hospital has set the national standard for pediatric urologic care for four decades. We have accumulated the most extensive clinical experience in the country in managing major conditions such as hydronephrosis, vesicoureteral reflux, undescended testis, and hypospadias. The fact that children treated in our early years are now adults living healthy, fulfilling lives stands as the achievement we hold most dear.

For rare and refractory conditions such as neurogenic bladder and complex genitourinary anomalies, we operate a structured multidisciplinary care system that minimizes redundant evaluations and ensures seamless management from the neonatal period through adulthood. Through close collaboration with the Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery, we have substantially expanded our care for spinal dysraphism, and the standardization and high volume of pediatric urodynamic studies have established our department as a national reference center for this condition. In hypospadias and other complex genitourinary reconstructive surgeries, both case volume and surgical proficiency have continued to grow, earning the trust of families as the highest-volume surgical center for these conditions in Korea. We have also progressively broadened the indications for pediatric laparoscopic surgery, expanding access to minimally invasive procedures and thereby accelerating recovery while reducing complications and length of hospital stay.

Genitourinary disorders in children and adolescents evolve with growth, and treatment must be calibrated accordingly. The depth of clinical experience and expertise within our team forms the foundation for minimizing unnecessary interventions and delivering optimal care at the most appropriate stage for each patient.

Our team comprises two attending faculty, two residents, two nurse practitioners, one urotherapist, and one outpatient clinic nurse, working in close coordination to place each patient at the center of care.

We remain committed to sustaining the highest standards of clinical care, research, and education in Korea, and to advancing further as an institution that stands shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading pediatric urology centers.
